Mixed in with all the art and design goodness found here on Colossal there’s a strong undercurrent of good ole’ unabashed consumerism: designed objects, lights, posters, and art. Ever since I can remember my mother towed me along through endless labyrinths of dusty antique shops, weekend flea markets and garage sales. To this day I love discovering new stores both physical and online and have struggled with how to feature them here. So behold, the first regular feature on Colossal, Shop Five. Every Tuesday I’ll feature five objects from a new store I’ve found in the past week.
The inaugural Shop Five feature is an awesome store here in Chicago: Agent Gallery (also in New York by appointment). Agent Gallery carries a huge variety of incredible vintage objects and also acts as a gallery space for four artists each year. It was almost impossible to winnow things down to just five things, but here they are.
