Sponsor // The Paseo Brings Light and Sound Installations to the Streets of Historic Taos

Youth workshop projection piece on the Luna Chapel in Taos, August 2015. Instructor-artist Nettrice Gaskins, Boston MA.

On September 25 and 26, 2015, the historic district of Taos, New Mexico will be transformed with 30 works by over 70 artists.  The 100% free “un-hangable” art that The Paseo will present is experimental, ephemeral, and participatory.

Artists include CHiKA, a Japanese-born, Brooklyn-based artist, and video pioneers Steina and Woody Vasulka, now based in Santa Fe. Other installations revolve around literary and culinary arts. Some pieces reference the centuries-old Spanish and Native American history of the community and the natural wilderness area that encircles Taos. All are interactive. The event also features 11 STEAM workshops in Taos schools, part of the STEMarts [email protected] Paseo youth program, created by Taos artist, Agnes Chavez.
