Colossal welcomes submissions in the realm of visual art, photography, sculpture, painting, installation, collage, paper, illustration and drawing, street art, architecture, industrial design, textile, animation, documentaries, and anything else involving a strong (generally non-digital) visual aspect. In the course of daily coverage I do not cover fashion, book or app reviews, coverage of websites, music, literature, call for entries, or upcoming events without supporting imagery. Colossal is used in numerous classrooms globally from grade school through the university level, so if your project involves sex, violence or particularly sensitive topics it regrettably may not be reviewed. Sorry!
Colossal does not accept products or compensation for editorial coverage with the exception of weekly sponsor posts detailed below.
How to Submit to Colossal
OK, here’s the skinny on sending work: lots of submissions arrive each week so please help me zero in on your best work as quickly as possible. Send a brief email with basic description of your work and please attach a few relevant images sized at at least 640px wide or ideally much larger. If your work is to be posted I will get back to you about more imagery or information. Zip files, DOCs, press releases, RARs, and PDFs will not be reviewed. In some cases you may include one or two web links directly to the project in question (ie. your film or your website). If what you wish to show is buried in a portfolio or gallery website I may not click through everything, so help me get started in the right spot.
You will receive an automatic response if your submission is successfully received. Every submission is carefully considered, though due to volume I’m unable to respond personally to all of them. Finally: submissions can be sent to [email protected]—please DO NOT subscribe this email address to your press lists.
Attention galleries and event organizers: I appreciate the submission of your next exhibition/event. As this is a visual blog, please attach relevant installation views or existing photos of the artist’s work. If no imagery exists please submit when you’re able to obtain photos. Thank you.
