Mumford & Sons: The Cave travel music video Mumford and Sons folk beach

Apparently I have been living in a cave because this music video released last year by Mumford and Sons has nearly five million views and a quick tour check shows they played, literally, in my back yard at the Riviera theater here in Chicago a few months ago and I was none the wiser. The four-member English folk rock band set the internet on fire last night (and crashed their own web site) after a quick 2-minute opener for Bob Dylan with the song above. I’m sure for some of you this is tantamount to me discovering a hot new band called “Radiohead”, but if it’s new to just a few of you my work here is done.

The Adapter was designed by Felix Ng, the art director at SILNT and is available at the FARM Online Store (which has more cool stuff that my mind is able to comprehend this early in the morning).

A great typography experiment by Thom Isom as part of his last university project at De Montfort University, Leicester.

Curve-stitch typography created for my final major university project entitled Ludd in April 2010. A range of installations and experiments based around the materials and techniques of arts and crafts. The typeface has been created in both digital and crafted formats with each letter nailed and threaded through 26 separate A4 boards.

Floating Animation Pen

The floating animation pen is a collaboration between Japanese designers Satoshi Endo and Taku Sato who spent six months researching and developing the perfect combination of elements that would simulate a 6-frame slit animation within the tiny confines of a liquid filled pen. Mesmerizing. (via designboom)

These heart lamps are just awesome. And by awesome I mean, so amazing that if I saw them hanging in a storefront window I would break the glass with a nearby snow shovel (this is Chicago people), deftly pluck the lights from the ceiling and return to my underground lair of high-end lighting where I would hang them and cackle MIIINEE AT LAST!!! Ahem.

Designed by Thien Ta Trung at Periphere for Toronto’s Made at Home show, the lights were aptly inspired by the phrase “Home is where the heart is”. And they will be mine. Oh yes, they will be mine. (via hello bauldoff, mocoloco)

Friday Linkdump

Friday Linkdump linkdump colossal

It took 25 years to convert this concrete factory into a into a castle home. A cat eating with its hands made me laugh. The exploded paper works of Sarah Bridgland. Blogs to know and love: Lustik, things magazine, and vox humana. Just in time for Valentine’s some really big ass Helvetica. The Notologist leaves notes in cafés and bookstores in hopes that people find them, log on and write a note back. A line of thought I support: music philosophy. And the brilliant work of photographer Hengki Koentjoro.

Sorry posting has been light this week, will try to resume my regular schedule of awesomeness soon. The photo above is by fashion photographer Matias Troncoso (nsfw!).
