Holy awesome bookcase batman! Designers Eva Alessandrini and Roberto Saporiti of the Italian furniture design firm Saporiti have created this beautiful bookcase system that allows you to spell custom words and phrases using modular bookcase letters. Cologne-based designer Michael Konstantin Wolke upcycles found objects, converting them into new works that are as equally functional as stunning. My favorite by far is his expandable wardrobe made from patched bicycle innertubes that have been wrapped around a solid metal frame. This is genuinely brilliant work and I can’t wait to see what he cobbles together next. (via de|zine)
Japanese botanic artist Makoto Azuma (previously) has partnered with furniture designer Herman Miller to create this Aeron chair wrapped in a thin layer of cushy green AstroTurf. The Inception Chair by RISD student Vivian Chiu is a series of ten interlocking chairs made of ash, meant to mimic the dream-within-a-dream concept from the 2010 film Inception.
Taking the chair archetype and placing within it chairs that are progressively smaller. Each chair has hand cut grooves on the inside edges of its seat frame as well as notches in the seat back. These grooves range from 1/2” wide to 1/8” wide. The mechanism works so that the pegs fit into the grooves of the chair one size bigger and slides into place so that the horizontal edge between the chair seat and back line up. The simple mechanism allows the chairs to be taken apart and put together with ease.

The Spotless Table is a fun new concept by Dutch designer Jenna Postma (previously). The surface of the side table is embedded with six ceramic coasters that can easily be removed for quick cleaning. The minimalist in me heartily approves.

The Push and Store Cabinet by Chung-Tang Ho contains a matrix of perfectly sculpted wood allowing you to easily embed objects directly into the furniture similar to a Pinart toy. (via polkadot)
