I was absolutely floored watching this enchanting stop motion video directed by Vincent Pianina and Lorenzo Papace for a song called Østersøen that was also written, composed, and recorded by Papace for his band Ödland off the album Sankta Lucia. What strikes me most about the video is the transitions between scenes, as objects change scale or as the camera zooms in to reveal alternate dimensions embedded in the smallest of areas. You’ll watch it two or three times before you see everything. See many more making-of photos over on Le Petit Écho Malade. Can somebody please give this Papace guy lots of money so he can make a short film? I would pay lots of money to see it.

This new stop-motion music video for Delta Heavy is pretty incredible. Watch as a cavalcade of classic boardgames from your childhood meet an untimely demise, all for the sake of dubstep. Warning: dubstep, a genre of music my ears are still trying to play nice with. Directed by Ian Robertson.

Light Hearted Kites

Light Hearted Kites video music kites

There are two extronidarily beautiful things happening in this iPhone video by Patrick Colpron. The first is a spectacular six-sail kite designed and flown by Steve Polansky, and second is a heart-achingly wonderful song called Lighthouse by Patrick Watson. What a perfect moment in time, sort of an impromptu video poem.

If you had to think of a word to describe the portraits of classical musicians and their instruments, what would it be? The one I thought of is: extremely boring. OK that’s two words. But really, when is the last time you saw an exciting photograph of a trombonist? Award-winning photographer (and cellist!) Nikolaj Lund has clearly identified the problem and solved it. His fun and often aggressive portraits take classical musicians out of the orchestra pit and off the stage and literally hurls them in the ocean, makes them tumble on the streets, and stagger through the desert. If I was a musician I would be calling this guy immediately (fyi, he’s based in Denmark). You can see much more of his work on Flickr, and his website. (via reddit)

I just stumbled onto these beautiful collages by Princeton-based artist Erika Iris who deftly reconfigures sheet music to create portraits and other illustrations. The Beethoven and MLK pieces are especially wonderful, but don’t miss some of her other works with paper or her portraits made from cassette tape and old film.

Another day, another wonderful music video by OK Go. This new video for Skyscrapers features a sultry montage of dance moves through a series of colorful urban backdrops. The clip was directed and produced by Grammy Award-winning choreographer and director Trish Sie (the lady above) paired with Moti Buchboot. More than many of OK Go’s songs lately, I’m really enjoying this one and might have to pick it up.

This print campaign for the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra uses macro photographs taken inside the cramped spaces of instruments making the inner workings of a violin, cello, flute, and pipe organ appear vast and spacious, almost as if you could walk around inside them. So wonderfully done. Art directed by photographer Bjoern Ewers, you can see more over on Behance.

Update: The photography is by Mierswa Kluska and the original concept came from Mona Sibai and Björn Ewers.
