February 8, 2012

Christopher Jobson

For the third time in as many years the University of Alberta set a world record last week for the largest dodgeball game, pitting 4,979 ball-hurling competitors against one another in a chaotic, hour-long hailstorm of giant, spongy red balls. Flying People in New York City

January 30, 2012

Christopher Jobson

How fun is this? The marketing team behind the movie Chronicle built three RC planes in the shape of human beings and flew them around New York City to create the illusion of superheroes zooming around iconic landmarks. Say what you will about this being a viral marketing ploy, I would much rather watch this than a 60-second trailer on TV. Well done. And also, I want one. (via gizmodo)

The Beauty of One Second

Christopher Jobson

A wonderful collection of one second video clips from the first round of the Beauty of a Second short film competition run by Leo Burnett Milan to promote the Montblanc luxury chronograph. Every once in a while viral marketers get things right, and this is one of those times. (via vimeo)

Soundlapse by Fruit Bonus

September 25, 2011

Christopher Jobson

Using audio samples recorded from around their office, Chicago-based filmmaking team Fruit Bonus made this slick promotional clip. What a great way to show off their chops and give you an idea of what they do, so the next time you need an awesome video and some ace kalimba playing, you know where to go. Don’t you kind of wish it kept going for another minute? (thnx, amanda!)

50 People, One Question: Chicago. What is your favorite memory?

September 19, 2011

Christopher Jobson

A great short film by social media firm Brand Nua where fifty Chicagoans are asked what their favorite memory is. Some wonderfully spontaneous answers from lots of people, and Nick’s mom Andrea is probably my new favorite person. (via gaper’s block)

Filmmaker James Miller captured the destruction of the British United Shoe Machinery Company in Leicester and decided to throw it in reverse slow motion. The results are totally surreal and wonderful. The music is ‘Moon – Welcome to Lunar Industries’ by Clint Mansell. (via vimeo)

A Crazy Neon Glow-Stick Video of Insanity

July 21, 2011

Christopher Jobson

This is a pretty fun viral advert for Bon Yurt (a brand of yogurt from Columbia) where a group of artists are set loose in a gallery space armed with tons of blenders, paint, and over 700 small glasses and build a sort of audio equalizer with gallons of toxic goo extracted from neon glow sticks. I’m hungry!
