Monster Friends from Familytree

November 24, 2010

Christopher Jobson

There are a couple of reasons I’m really excited to share these new Monster Friends prints from Familytree with you. First, their last series of posters sold out in less than three days so you probably only have about 10 more minutes to scoop up one of these for your bad self. Second, they glow in the freaking dark. Third, you’ve just gotta go to their web site and find the little light switch toggle beneath the posters to see them in the dark. That’s ten bonus points for their web designer.

Creepy Stuff from Celia Marais

November 24, 2010

Christopher Jobson

For her series titled Field Excursion artist Celia Marais constructed these other-worldly organisms out of actual meat and fish—I can almost see the slime dripping down my monitor. Some of the creepy crawly things were then modeled and animated for use on Amon Tobin’s web site (previously). Prints available via The Beholder.

Designer Matt Stevens uses Pantone swatches to illustrate the past 17 years. So much brilliance in such a tiny space. I think Jobs and Dolly are my favorites. (via drawn)

Collaborative Father-Son Lunchbox Illustrations

November 18, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Every day since kindergarten Rob Kimmel has sent his son to school with a post-it note and pen inside his lunchbox. On the colored paper is a half-completed illustration and half-completed story that his son then finishes. Holy cow, brilliant. Also really like “My favorite constellation is the Nerd“. I had a friend in grade school whose dad drew intricate pencil illustrations of space ships and scenes on his hard-boiled eggs and I always thought it was the coolest thing. My dad sent me to school with a thermos accidentally filled with red wine, but that’s a story for another day. See also: Axe Cop. (via quips)
