When I Am King

October 28, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Stop animation video for When I Am King by Dutch indie rocker Tim Knol, directed by Sverre Frederiksen. The two minute film took two months to shoot and uses a technique known as pyrography, where the illustrations are burned onto wood and then animated. (via the recently relaunched drawn)

Moog releases the Filtatron for iPhone

October 18, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Today Moog releases the Filtatron for the iPhone, probably one of the more advanced sound apps ever made for the iOS platform. I’d be stepping out of my comfort zone to discuss “four-pole resonant Moog Ladders” or that the “sound quality and can be modulated by its own LFO” — I have no idea what this means, but does it sound awesome? Yes. And if I can whip up a follow-up track to Popcorn by Hot Butter using my phone while riding the train, well excuse me if I don’t post for awhile, I’ll be modulating my Moog Ladder.

Robot Romance directed by Charles De Meyer

October 17, 2010

Christopher Jobson

A new music video/short film by Belgian director Charles De Meyer for Amon Tobin‘s 2007 track Esther’s off Foley Room. I agree with a comment on YouTube, “I’d rather watch this than transformers.” Go for the HD full-screen.

Tuned Pale Ale Encourages Beer Drinkers to Make Music

August 31, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Pretty much my holy trinity: beer, music, and design all wrapped into some beautiful packaging by Matt Braun and Chris Mufalli for Tuned Pale Ale.

Tuned Pale Ale is a product that explores the musical affordable in everyday objects and promotes social spontaneity. While drinking beer, people become musically encouraged and often start making music with objects around them. This product aims to promote more of this type of social interaction.
