In 2004 an unconscious man was discovered behind a fast food restaurant in Richmond Hill, Georgia. He had no belongings, severe sunburn, and was nearly blind from cataracts. The man also had absolutely no idea who he was. After months of ongoing evaluation from doctors and psychologists it was determined he was suffering from dissociative amnesia. New Figurative Sculptures Made of Shattered Glass by Daniel Arsham

New York based artist Daniel Arsham (previously here, here and here) recently completed a number of new works, most notably these three figurative sculptures made from compacted broken glass, inspired by the discovery of glass shards in his home after hurricane Andrew in 1992. Other new sculptures include several picture frames using the same broken glass treatment and cameras formed from sand and stone. Arsham’s work is almost universally devoid of color or complexity and instead relies solely on the physical manipulation of basic materials to accomplish each new idea, a process that often involves altering of gallery wall surfaces…

The Disorienting Polyhedral Panoramic Perspective Drawings of Rorik Smith

Before an email arrived in my inbox this week I was completely unaware that a polyhedral panoramic perspective drawing was a thing, but apparently is, though a quick google search comes up with nothing. But I’ll take artist Rorik Smith at his word and just enjoy the incredible effects achieved in his disorienting illustrations that are drawn with graphite pencils on-site without aid from photographic reference material or digital manipulation. Smith seems to introduce polarized coordinates at random locations in each drawing and then bends the perspective of the surrounding areas to match. If that makes any sense. Love these….

Technological Mandalas Made from Soldered Computer and Radio Components

Technological Mandala No. 2 is the latest work from Italian-born, London-based artist Leonardo Ulian who carefully solders a myriad of computer components, circuitry and microchips to create these precisely symmetrical mandalas.
