Can You Find the Dog in Each of these Photos? Meet Momo, the Most Elusive Puppy on Instagram

January 16, 2013

Christopher Jobson

Ontario-based graphic designer Andrew Knapp noticed that his 4.5 year old border collie, Momo, would always hide when fetching sticks instead of dutifully returning them. After photographing a few of the shots Knapp hatched an idea for a series of urban and rural landscapes with the dog hiding somewhere in the frame. He’s a well-camouflaged pup, definitely the ‘Where’s Waldo’ of the internet. You can follow Momo’s hide and seek adventures at GoFindMomo.com and on Instagram. (thnx, kate!)…

New Figurative Sculptures Made of Shattered Glass by Daniel Arsham

November 6, 2012

Christopher Jobson

…most notably these three figurative sculptures made from compacted broken glass, inspired by the discovery of glass shards in his home after hurricane Andrew in 1992. Other new sculptures include several picture frames using the same broken glass treatment and cameras formed from sand and stone. Arsham’s work is almost universally devoid of color or complexity and instead relies solely on the physical manipulation of basic materials to accomplish each new idea, a process that often involves altering of gallery wall surfaces to encase, suspend, or shroud his sculptures. See much more in his three dimensional portfolio. (via junk culturehttp://www.junk-culture.com/2012/11/daniel-arsham-broken-glass-sculptures.html)…

A Separate Reality: New Paintings of Dystopian Worlds by Alex Andreev

October 17, 2012

Christopher Jobson

Trying to categorize or summarize the genre of Alex Andreev’s (previously) digital paintings is nearly impossible. Part science fiction, part dystopian future, the scenes are equally disturbing and beautiful, his characters inhabiting a world Andreev tells me is deeply influenced by Soviet-era literature, music and movies. Based in St. Petersburg, Russia he works primarily with Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint and relies only on a small selection of brushes and colors to create each illustration, meaning there are no special effects or 3d-rendering of anything. Andreev recently published an art book, A Separate Reality, which is available through Blurb.com….

July 4, 2012

Christopher Jobson

Berlin firm ART+COM just completed this stunning new kinetic sculpture in Terminal 1 of Changi Airport in Singapore. Kinetic Rain consists of two sets of 608 suspended raindrops made from lightweight aluminum covered in copper which are raised and lowered in a 15-minute computationally designed choreography controlled from motors embedded in the ceiling. ART+COM created a similar though somewhat smaller piece for the BMW Museum in 2008….

These lovely, ethereal photos of mist-filled forests were captured by brothers Andrei and Sergiu Cosma of PhotoCosma who live and work in Romania. They plan trips together, light, shoot and process each image as a team, resulting in some truly remarkable perspectives. You can see much more of their work on 1x.com and in their very extensive gallery featuring a wide range of natural wonders. (via reddit)…

April 18, 2012

Christopher Jobson

This amazing panoramic photograph (known as a stereographic projection) was recently captured by Greek photographer Chris Kotsiopoloulos during a mammoth 30-hour photo shoot in Sounio, Greece. The image is comprised of hundreds of photographs shot from daytime to nighttime that have been digitally stitched together to represent an entire rotation of the Earth. (via news.com.au)…
