Consollection 2: The Ultimate Video Game Poster of All Time

November 30, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Ohhhh my goodness. The Consollection graphic has been updated to include more game systems with added detail and is now finally a print which you can purchase and hang in the most prominent part of your household.

170 videogame systems are shown as miniatures in chronological order. Every system is presented with name, manufacturer and release date. A nice overview over 38 years of videogame-history.

Andrew Smith: Kinetic Sculpture

November 30, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Utah artist Andrew Smith creates incredible kinetic sculptures from stuff found in junk yards and garage sales. His junk collection fills a 30-by-50-foot steel structure, and from the thousands of discarded industrial scraps he assembles mechanical Rube-Goldberesque machines from scratch. Definitely watch the video above to see some of the stuff in motion, there’s also a making of for a piece he built for the Salt Lake City Childrens Museum, and another interview he did in 2006. Blown Glass Cumulus Ornaments by Mendel Heit

November 29, 2010

Christopher Jobson

A pretty swanky mouth-blown glass ornament (“ball”) from artist Mendel Heit out of Berlin. From the artist’s web site:

This particular christmas ball is an invite to go back to your to childhood memories, your first video game, activate your deepest imagination, maybe like the ones that come during an afternoon when you’re lying in the grass and spotting for the funniest clouds you can find. Cumulus is the easiest way to bring back your own little cloud at home.

Available at locations listed at the bottom of his web site. Unfortunately nowhere online I can find. (via yanko)

The Whimsical Work of Tom Foulsham

November 29, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Wow loving this clever and wacky stuff by UK artist Tom Foulsham. Of particular note is the super-insane Wiggle Table equipped with a mechanism that converts keyboard input into correlating vibrations in an adjacent table. A second person then uses a pencil to create a line across that table and as if by magic legible writing appears. (via co.design)
