If you’ve visited any art or design blog over the last few years you’ve almost certainly run into the artwork of Anastassia Elias who made waves in 2009/2010 with her wonderful back-lit paper dioramas inside of toilet paper tubes. Today she announced a new book titled Rouleaux containing photos of 67 original works spanning 2009-2012. You can pick it up over on Blurb for about $22. See many more from this series right here.

Greek artist Nikos Gyftakis created this wonderful series of swirling self-portraits between 2004-2005. The works are made with oil pastels on canvas and are actually quite large, with a few of the pieces taller than 5′ (1.5m). You can see many more from this series and more of his recent work in his work gallery. (via empty kingdom)

Photographer Darren Pearson (previously) has been perfecting his long-exposure light painting techniques over the last few months. While I really enjoy his dinosaurs you can see lots more in his recent California Soul series that explores Californian culture through surfing, skateboarding and skeletons.

Artist Ramon Bruin (previously) recently drew this fun anamorphic illusion that appears to be a 3D ship but is actually a skewed drawing on three sheets of flat paper. You can see more of his recent work over on deviantART. (via my modern met)
