Amazing

Shoe Delivering Pigeons

July 15, 2011

Christopher Jobson

On the cusp of launching their ecommerce site, the eco-friendly shoe brand JoJo realized shipping costs were much greater than anticipated. Looking to cut costs and satisfy customers they did what any creative entrepreneur would do: bred incredibly intelligent super pigeons to deliver shoes. (via polkadot)

Update: Yes internet, I am aware this is a viral advert and that a carrier pigeon is not huffing its way across the Atlantic with my new duds.

New work by Pei-San Ng

June 21, 2011

Christopher Jobson

A wonderful new piece from Chicago artist and architect Pei-San Ng (previously) who makes tightly compact sculptural pieces out of matches. This latest work, a bold phoenix with an appropriate ashen tail is the most complex piece I’ve seen from her. This sculpture and some new typographical works are for sale in her shop. Human Bird

June 10, 2011

Christopher Jobson

As part of the Edinburgh College of Art degree show this week, Gareth Wynne Fitzpatrick suspended himself from a gallery ceiling and set forth on weaving an enormous birds nest, entitled We’ve a man nest. Say what you will about the meaning or purpose, but the man has some patience. (thnx, nate!)

Book Sculptures by Bronia Sawyer

June 2, 2011

Christopher Jobson

The abundance of book sculpture I’ve seen online lately is staggering, however it was refreshing to discover the work of UK-based Bronia Sawyer who colors, folds, and rolls the pages of books to create these bird and flower-like plumes of color. Via her site:

I love to take something like a book and turning it in to something visually pleasing. With book sculpture I like the fact that books are flat and square they have order but by cutting them and folding them you can create organice and random shapes. I also like to add colours but mainly for the way it looks in photographs.

See lots more work via her Flickr and website.
