Human Movement Converted Into Digital Sculptures

August 13, 2013

Christopher Jobson

I’m really enjoying the visuals in this series of four idents for CCTV that translate human motion into digitally sculpted objects that look like steel, water, and wood. The clips were created by Taiwan design house JL Design and KORB. If you liked this also check out the photography of Shinichi Maruyama or Choros.

Digital artist Paolo Čeric (previously) continues to crank out some of the most elegant and bizarre gifs I’ve seen lately. The Croatian artist relies on software like Cinema 4D, After Effects, and a programing language called Processing, as well as a wild imagination to strange forms that wobble and twist with energy. See more recent animations on his Tumblr.

Night Stroll: Geometric Lightscapes Animated on the Streets of Tokyo by Tao Tajima

July 12, 2013

Christopher Jobson

Night Stroll is a lovely animated short by Tao Tajima. Various light figures are seen interacting with locations around Tokyo, I can’t begin to guess how this was all planned, shot and animated and there is almost no information about it online, but it’s remarkable nonetheless.

I’m really enjoying these digital illustrations by artist Tebe Interesno, who explores a wide variety of themes from surrealism to science fiction. While his blog hasn’t been updated in a while there are pages of work going back several years that are well worth a look. If you like this, also check out Alex Andreev.

Digital artist Zach Dougherty takes classical Greek statues and then digitizes them into glitchy, geometric GIFs. These are a few of my favorites but you can see more over on his Tumblr, Hateplow.

Digital artist Adam Martinakis (previously) was born Poland in 1972 and currently lives and works in in Cannock, UK. His computer-generated artworks employ aspects of photorealism and surrealism to explore the human condition which he says results in a “mixture of post-fantasy futurism and abstract symbolism”. Above are a handful of works from the last year or so, several of which were on view at The Lloyd Gill Gallery through last week as part of a group show titled Metaphysical Objectivity in Comparison to Realism. You can see much more here.
