Since we last covered work by DALeast, the artist has painted numerous pieces around the world, particularly a number of bird-themes murals in Poland, Spain, and now New York City where he just completed a towering painting of a bird clutching another bird on the side a Manhattan building. Born in China, the muralist/sculptor/painter is currently based out of Cape Town where his use of frenetic lines to compose animals, people, and other forms is almost instantly recognizable. You can follow his latest adventures on Instagram. (via StreetArtNews)

Update: DALeast opens a solo exhibition at Jonathan Levine Gallery on September 6.

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s post about an enormous dog mural by Smates in Belgium, here’s another great collection of humongous animals by UK duo Irony & Boe (aka. Whoam Irony and Placee Boe). The pair have collaborated on several large pieces in London over the last year including this wacky chihuahua that appeared on Chrisp Street in East London about a month ago. (via Inspiring City)

Belgian street artist ROA (previously) is currently in Tunisia along with 150 other participating artists for Galerie Itinerrance’s Djerbahood open air museum project in Djerba, Tunisia. The artist cleverly took advantage of the many domed buildings in the city for several of his monochromatic spray paint murals that spread across multiple surfaces. You can see more recent pieces on the Djerbahood website. (via Savage Habit, Street Art News)

Cartoony Mural Depicts Man Obsessing over Facebook Likes

July 15, 2014

Christopher Jobson

mrthoms

There’s plenty of social commentary in this new mural titled ‘Like a Vision‘ from Mister Thoms (previously). The piece appeared somewhere in Ferentino, Italy last week and depicts a man obsessed with the feedback from Facebook likes, rendered in Mister Thoms’ signature illustrative style. Please revel in the irony of liking anything to do with this. (via StreetArtNews, Laughing Squid)
