A Phenomenal Projection-Mapping Music Video Shot in a Single Take for Irma’s ‘Save Me’

With a neverending procession of distressing events in the news lately, you might be in need for a substantial dose of something absurdly happy. If so, this new music video for Cameroonian singer-songwriter Irma will surely fit the bill. The video was created by French design house SuperBien and directed by Xavier Maingon and Marc-Antoine Hélard who opted to shoot the entire piece on a single soundstage with the use of 7 digital projectors. The shoot must have been a Herculean effort on behalf of the kids who had to rock it out for 20-25 takes before getting the final version. The song is “Save Me” off her 2014 album Faces. OK Go’s New Music Video for ‘The Writing’s on the Wall’ Loaded with Four Minutes of Live Optical Illusions

After a two year hiatus from creating their visually brilliant music videos, alternative rock band OK Go are finally back with their latest mind-blowing clip for ‘The Writing’s on the Wall,’ a single from their forthcoming album Hungry Ghosts. The video is 4-minute barrage of optical illusion techniques performed live in-camera (primarily anamorphic projection) that borrow ideas from artists like Bernard Pras, Felice Varini, Bela Borsodi and maybe even a nod to Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album cover. All of the scenes are performed one after another in a single take, but probably took untold months of preparation. Love the last shot that reveals the crew.

Moving On: A Stop-motion Music Video for ‘James’ Made with Yarn by Ainslie Henderson

Moving On is the latest stop-motion video from BAFTA-nominated animator, writer, and director Ainslie Henderson. The clip was created as a music video for British rock band James and tells a story of life and death through characters depicted with yellow yarn. Sad, but wonderfully done. (via Jason Sondhi)

The Collages of Joseba Elorza Set in Motion for Air Review’s ‘Young’

A few months ago we featured a number of collages by artist Joseba Elorza (previously) who merges stock historical footage, photography, science fiction, and humor to create surreal worlds that are both strange and nostalgic. Now we get to see his collages in motion. Dallas-based band Air Review commissioned Elorza to make this beautiful music video for their track Young.

360° Panoramic Music Video for ‘Booka Shade’ Filmed from a Hexacopter

Just a few days ago we saw a contingent of GoPro cameras lifted above a bicycle to create a fun “tiny world” effect. Now director Ryan Staake (previously) takes 8 cameras into the sky for this new music video for German house duo Booka Shade. You can see how it all came together here. (via PetaPixel)

Colourblind: A Wooden Stop-Motion Short for Elliot the Bull

Colourblind is the latest stop-motion short from Australian animation firm Oh Yeah Wow (previously here and here). While the animators have previously worked with light, textiles, clay and other materials, this piece was constructed from geometric wood pieces to tell the story of two beautifully imagined characters. The video was created for alternative rock band Elliot the Bull’s latest single by the same title, Colourblind.
