The Latinx Project Open Call for Curatorial Proposals
NYU’s Latinx Project is looking for proposals for group exhibitions from U.S.-based curators. The winning project will receive an exhibition budget of $10,000, an honorarium of $5,000, a three-month exhibition, and curatorial support.
Deadline: May 5, 2022.

Creative Time Open Call
Creative Time is looking for proposals from U.S.-based artists at any stage of their career to create a public art project that addresses a critical social issue. The chosen recipient will be awarded $10,000 and support to realize the project in New York City.

The 13th Epson International Pano Awards
Open internationally, the 13th annual Epson International Pano Awards celebrates all facets of panoramic photography. The competition will award more than $40,000 in prizes, including $14,000 in cash. There is an entry fee of $22 per submission.

Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize

The Bennett Prize for Women Figurative Painters
U.S.-based painters are invited to apply for the third iteration of The Bennett Prize, which awards $50,000 to one artist with a runner-up receiving $10,000. The entry fee is $40.

Getty Images Grants
Getty Images recently announced four new editorial grants worth a total of $85,000. The four programs are designed to support photojournalists and organizations, with an emphasis on work that addresses some of the most urgent issues today.

Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant 2022
This annual Creative Capital initiative awards arts writers grants between $15,000 and $50,000 to create articles, books, and short-form writing.
Deadline: May 18, 2022.

The Anonymous Was A Woman Environmental Art Grants
Open to women-identifying artists based in the U.S., this grant awards up to $20,000 for environmental art projects. Proposals should focus on the impact of the project and must have a public engagement component.

Innovate Grants
Innovate Grant awards two $550 grants each quarter to one visual artist and one photographer. The initiative is open internationally.

Illuminations Grant for Black Trans Women Visual Artists
This $10,000 grant recognizes an existing body of work by a Black trans woman. It will also provide additional support for continuing their work.

Kickstarter, Creative Capital, and Skoll Foundation launched a $500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund to support projects by Asian, Black, Indigenous, and Latinx creators. Awards are given out on an ongoing basis to creators in categories like Arts, Comics & Illustration, Design & Tech, Film, Food & Craft, Games, Music, and Publishing.

Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund
Adobe’s Creative Residency Community Fund commissions visual artists to create company projects on a rolling basis. Awardees will receive between $500 and $5,000.

The Latinx Project Artist-In-Residence Program
NYU’s Latinx Project Artist-In-Residence Program offers artists an honorarium of up to $10,000, a $5,000 budget for developing a project with a curator the artist chooses, and support for developing public programming and press materials. The residency is open to U.S. artists and runs for 4 to 6 months of the academic year.

The Farm Margaret River Residency
Open to Australian residents working in all disciplines, The Farm Margaret River’s residency program is fully funded and focused on site-specific projects born out of the artist’s five- to eight-week stay.

Art Immersion Residencies
Applications for university student scholarships and fellowships for creative professionals are open now. The Art Immersion residences are hosted across European cities and designed for collaboration.

Abrons Arts Center Visual Artist AIRspace Residency
New York City-based visual artists can apply for one of four residencies at Abrons Arts Center. Residents receive a $3,000 unrestricted stipend, a semi-private studio, and a group exhibition.

Lilstreet Art Center Artist-in-Residence
Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago offers one-year residencies to artists working in ceramics or metalsmithing and nine-month residencies to those in textiles arts, drawing, painting, printmaking, and book arts. Artists receive a monthly $400 stipend, and the application fee is $20.

Velvetpark LGBTQ+ Visual Artist Residency
Velvetpark’s Visual Arts Residency awards one LGBTQ+ artist with six months of workspace in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. There is a $25 application fee.

Young Artists Competition & Intensive

Marble House Project Artist Residency

Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) Residency
Scheduled to run in the winter of 2023, the VCCA residency is open internationally to visual artists, writers, and composers. There are several opportunities for fully-funded fellowships, and the application fee is $30.

Silver Art Projects Residency
Each year, this residency establishes an artist cohort and offers up to 10 months of studio space in New York City. Artists also receive a $1,200 stipend and mentorship.

Recently graduates interested in bio art and design are encouraged to submit proposals for the 2022 BAD Award. Three winning projects will receive 25,000 Euros each to realize their works.

LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists

Arts/Industry Residency at John Michel Kohler Arts Center
Artists interested in pottery and foundry can apply for three-month residencies with access to Kohler Co. resources. No experience with clay or cast metal is required, but applications should demonstrate interest in pursuing a new body of work in one of the mediums.

Alex Brown Foundation Artist-In-Residency

We’re Hiring!

Colossal is hiring a U.S.-based WordPress developer to help with a variety of small design projects. While none of them involve anything too complicated like server or database issues, we need somebody familiar with how WordPress works and behaves to help us improve issues with plugins, widgets, and page layout on desktop and mobile. You should have an eye for design, typography, and be very familiar with themes/css. The initial project work is estimated at 10-15 hours with more to follow. Project Room 2022-2023 Exhibition at Locust Projects
Locust Projects invites visual artists from around the world to apply to create a large-scale new work at its Miami space. Selected artists will receive curatorial guidance, a $3,500 budget, an additional stipend, and a private room at the Locust Projects residency house.

Guantánamo 20th Anniversary Poster Contest
January 11 marked 20 years since the Guantánamo Bay detention facility opened, and Amnesty International and the Center for Victims of Torture have teamed up for a poster contest geared toward closing the institution. The open call is open to anyone under age 30, and submissions should have an educational component. Winners will receive cash prizes.

Governors Island Winter Ice Sculpture Show
Ten New York City-based artists or artist teams will be selected to complete an ice sculpture with the help of a professional carver during the Governors Island Inaugural Winter Ice Sculpture Show on February 26. Proposed works should relate to Governors Island and/or New York Harbor and be based on a 40 x 20 x 10-inch block of ice. Winners will receive a $2,000 award.

Open internationally, the 35th annual Materials: Hard + Soft exhibition celebrates contemporary works in clay, fiber, glass, metal, paper, wood, or any combination of craft media. Salad Days commissions one artist to produce plates or shallow bowls from terracotta clay for the Watershed Ceramic’s Salad Days fundraiser, which celebrates the craft and local food. Residents are provided with a private room, meals, studio space, materials, and a $4,000 stipend.

Brown University Center for the Study of Race and Ethnicity in America Fellowship
Artists whose work focuses on race, ethnicity, and/or indigeneity are eligible for a virtual fellowship at Brown University during the Spring 2023 term. Fellows will receive a $10,000 stipend and $1,500 for research and projects.

Shandaken: Storm King Residency
Storm King Art Center’s residency spans two to six weeks and is open to artists of all disciplines. The application fee is $25.

Ceramic Artist in Residency at Clay Art Center
Held annually in September, the residency at Clay Art Center in Port Chester, New York, offers one emerging artist a year-long stay to develop their craft. The program includes a private studio, free firing, a $500 monthly stipend, paid teaching opportunities, and an exhibition.

Changing Climate Residency at Santa Fe Art Institute
Individual artists, teams, and families of all disciplines whose work addresses the climate crisis are encouraged to apply for a 2023 Changing Climate program. Santa Fe Art Institute offers one- to three-month residencies and will award an additional $500 stipend to up to 28 regional BIPOC artists.

Aperture Portfolio Prize
The Aperture Portfolio Prize is an annual international competition that recognizes innovative bodies of work that haven’t been featured in major publications or exhibitions. One winner will be published in Aperture magazine, receive a $3,000 prize, and have a solo show in New York.

Frankenthaler Climate Art Awards
Artists and collectives who’ve made video works (e.g. digital video art, animation, film) or videos about visual works (e.g. sculptures, photos, paintings, installations, or performances) that address the climate crisis are eligible for the Frankenthaler Climate Art Awards, which will give winners $15,000 each.

Booooooom’s New Photo Book Circles
Booooooom is hosting an open call for photos of the strange, beautiful, and unforgettable circles all around us. Chosen images will be compiled in the publication’s third book.

MediaFutures Support Programme
Artists and collectives who use data to inform their work are encouraged to apply for the MediaFutures program, which will grant up to €30,000 per awardee. Proposed projects should utilize data both critically and materially to question technology’s impact on society, including addressing misinformation and disinformation.

Prix Viviane Esders Photo Prize
The Prix Viviane Esders prize recognizes European photographers over age sixty whose careers have impacted the history of the medium. One winner receives a €60,000 award and showing in Paris.

NEW WORK from Prospect Art
Prospect Art awards a $500 mini-grant to visual artists twice each year as part of its NEW WORK program, which is designed to support projects that don’t fit into commercial galleries. Submissions should be representative of today’s moment.

Robert Giard Grant for Emerging LGBTQ+ Photographers
Open to international applications, Queer|Art will award $10,000 to support the work of emerging LGBTQ+ photographers whose projects address issues of sexuality, gender, or identity. The first-runner up will receive $5,000, and funds can be used for new or ongoing work at any stage of development.
Deadline: January 17, 2022.

Sustainable Arts Foundation Grants for Artists with Children
Twenty artists and writers with children under age 18 are eligible for a Sustainable Arts Foundation grant for $5,000. Each award is unrestricted, and there’s a $20 application fee.
Deadline: 5 p.m. EST on February 25, 2022.

Creative Capital’s Wild Futures 2023/2024
During two years, Creative Capital will award 100 artists up to $50,000 each, with additional advisory services per project. 2023 is open to performing arts, technology, and literature, and 2024 is seeking visual arts and moving image/film.

$500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund
Kickstarter, Creative Capital, and Skoll Foundation launched a $500,000 Creative Capital x Skoll Foundation Fund to support projects by Asian, Black, Indigenous, and Latinx creators. Awards are given out on an ongoing basis to creators in categories like Arts, Comics & Illustration, Design & Tech, Film, Food & Craft, Games, Music, and Publishing.

Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund
Adobe’s Creative Residency Community Fund commissions visual artists to create company projects on a rolling basis. Awardees will receive between $500 and $5,000.

Residencies & Fellowships

Caltech-Huntington Art + Research Residency Program
The Art + Research Residency Program provides two artists the opportunity to collaborate with the Caltech and Huntington research communities during a four-month stay. Residents will be awarded an all-inclusive stipend up to $35,000, must have an MFA or Ph.D., and their work should engage with social justice issues.
Deadline: 12 a.m. PST on January 5, 2022.

South Arts Southern Prize and State Fellowships
Open to visual artists in the South (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee), the South Arts Southern fellowship will award $5,000 to winners in each state. Each awardee will be eligible for an additional $25,000 and $10,000 prize.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EST on January 10, 2022.

Right of Return USA Fellowship
The Right of Return USA Fellowship will award six formerly incarcerated artists a $20,000 grant each for a project that considers criminal justice reform. Fellows will participate in a group retreat in the spring of 2022.

Sculpture Space Residency
Based in Utica, New York, Sculpture Space is offering a two-month residency slated for 2023. There’s a $35 application fee to apply.

Artaxis Fellowship
The sixth annual Artaxis Fellowship will award two ceramicists up to $2,000 to fund a two-week summer workshop at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. Applicants can be at any stage of their careers.

StudioWorks Artist-in-Residence Program
The StudioWorks program offers a $2,000 stipend for a four-week term at the Tides Institute & Museum of Art. International emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply.

MacDowell Fellowship
Open across disciplines including architecture, film and video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theatre, and visual art, the MacDowell Fellowship awards 300 artists each year. The program is open internationally and requires a $30 application fee.

Residencies for Artists at Art Omi
Applications are open for Art Omi’s three residencies in visual art, dance, and music. Located in Columbia County, New York, each program brings together a group of creatives for cultural exchange, experimentation, and critical evaluation.

Bernheim’s Artist in Residence
Each year, Bernheim Forest’s Artist in Residence program awards up to four artists a $2,500 stipend and a stay at Bernheim to create site-specific work inspired by the natural environment. One residency is always awarded to a regional artist living in Kentucky or in Clark and Floyd counties of Southern Indiana, and another is devoted to environmental issues and the severity of the climate crisis.

Elsewhere Funded Family Residency
Elsewhere Studios will host its third 10-day residency in June of 2022. Artists will receive a $1,000 stipend to be used at their discretion and will be provided with living and studio space, which they can share with their spouse or family, if desired.
