Art

Shannon Rankin

January 14, 2011

Christopher Jobson

Born in California artist Shannon Rankin lives and works in Maine.

In my work I create installations, collages and drawings that use the language of maps to explore the connections among geological and biological processes, patterns in nature, geometry and anatomy. Using a variety of distinct styles I intricately cut, score, wrinkle, layer, fold, paint and pin maps to produce revised versions that often become more like the terrains they represent.

Christopher Jobson

Really dig this architectural paper model set by Terada Design.

Create your own little paper wonderland with these perfectly cut paper pieces. There are people large and small, dogs, cats, birds, flowers, chairs, sofas, tables, lamps, bikes, grass and more! Made completely with paper (of course!), you simply pop out the pieces and fold them into place. 1/100 is an architectural model set that represents the home and family life. This is the design of Naoki Terada from Terada Design in Japan. Scale is 1-100. Sheet size measures 104mm x 148mm. Here for the first time in Australia!

Art Photography

Cara Barer

December 30, 2010

Christopher Jobson

Enjoying these folded book sculptures by photographer Cara Barer.

With the discarded books that I have acquired, I am attempting to blur the line between objects, sculpture, and photography. This project has become a journey that continues to evolve. […] No important books have been injured during the making of any of these photographs.

New work from French illustrator Florian Nicolle who layers ink, paper, paint and some subtle Photoshop editing to create these wonderfully messy images. Many more images and an interesting “step by step” over on Behance.
