Optical Ripple: A New Geometric Print from Simon C. Page
Optical Ripple is the latest print from artist and designer Simon C. Page who often explores complex geometric patterns as well as the interplay of color. This latest piece involves a kaleidoscopic array of colors and concentric circles that borders on the edge of a blurry optical illusion. If you liked this, also check out his wonderful Color Wheel. Here & There: Horizonless Projections of Manhattan
Here & There are a fascinating set of prints from London-based design firm BERG that depict speculative projections of Manhattan by completely removing the horizon and skewing the entire urban landscape upward. These particular views are of uptown from 3rd and 7th street, and downtown from 3rd and 35th street. Last year the prints found their way into MOMA’s permanent collection, and have just been reprinted using offset litho on 170 gsm paper from sustainable sources. Pick ’em up now, shipping starts tomorrow.
Update: Because people are asking, these were designed a year or two before Inception. Just sayin’.

Carving the Moon: A New Woodcut Print by Tugboat Printshop
Since 2006 Pittsburgh-based husband and wife Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth have run the Tugboat Printshop, a traditional printmaking studio where everything is made by hand, starting with the giant slabs of wood into which each of their images are carved. The Moon is their largest hand-carved relief print ever coming in at 36″ x 32″ (91 x 82 cm) and will printed using two colors. If you’re interested they documented the process of carving the beautiful illustration which is now available for pre-order, and I also recommend checking out their other prints. (via cloud junky)

Incredible New Sketchbook Illustrations from Mattias Adolfsson
Within the sketchbooks of Swedish artist Mattias Adolfsson (previously), strange comic book robots are seen running amok, fantastic steampunk-esque machines sputter to life, and airplane pilots find themselves facing interfaces encumbered with thousands of switches, dials, and tubes. It’s a world that is absurdly complex and meticulously drawn using only a finely controlled pen and a few brushstrokes of color.
Above are just a few of my favorites among Adolfsson’s prolific outpouring of work which you can follow on Flickr and Behance. He also has a number of original works available on Etsy including a new accordion fold picture book, and some of his larger drawings are now available as giclée prints over on Arte Limited.
