Deconstructed Bird and Insect Wing Patterns by Eleanor Lutz
Artist and designer Eleanor Lutz has a special knack for science illustration. On her blog, Tabletop Whale, she recently shared this great series of admittedly non-scientific charts that deconstruct the wing patterns of birds and insects. After spreading across the web like wildfire the last few days she quickly turned it into a print available through Artsider. (via Kottke)

Overlook: A New Woodcut Print from Tugboat Printshop
After two years of preparation and meticulous carving, “Overlook” is an upcoming woodcut print from the minds and hands of Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth of Pittsburgh-based Tugboat Printshop (previously). The duo make some of the most stunning limited edition woodcut prints around, having churned out a number of new pieces since we last checked in including Woodcut Valley, Community, and Desert Island. The final color print of Overlook (above is just the woodblock used for printing) will be 28″ x 46″ and is available for pre-order.

Mineral Admiration: Watercolor Paintings of Crystals by Karina Eibatova
Mineral Admiration is a new series of watercolor paintings by Vienna-based artist and illustrator Karina Eibatova. The juxtaposition of using a water-based medium to create images of stone is in line with Eibatova’s desire to only create images from nature, an exploration that has lead to dozens of publications in magazines, newspapers, and journals around the world. These new paintings are available as prints in her online shop.

Animals Formed From Moiré Patterns by Designer Andrea Minini
Milan-based designer Andrea Minini (previously) recently completed a new series of animals illustrated with textured moiré patterns, creating an unusual intersection between natural forms and mathematics. It’s curious to see how the patterns give each illustration a great sense of motion, curving naturally with the shape of each animal. If you’re interested, many of these are available as prints here. Painted Typography by Pawel Nolbert
This interesting blend of paint and typography by Warsaw-based designer Pawel Nolbert was created by photographing actual paint splatters and merging them with digital illustration techniques. Titled Atypical, he describes the series of posters as an exploration of the form and rhythm of letterforms “presented as half-realistic, half-illustrative figurative sculptures.” You can see more on his website, and prints are available on Society6.

Colorful City Silhouette Prints by Yoni Alter
London-based designer Yoni Alter has a huge line of colorful prints featuring overlaid silhouettes (to scale) of every major landmark found in different cities. There’s too many places to list here, but you can explore more in his shop, and many if his pieces were just on view at Kemistry Gallery earlier this week. Love that Colossal NYC print.
