Make This Better
The folks over at Broken City Lab have created this great installation that will be temporarily installed in locations around Ontario to generate conversations and awareness around areas of urban blight. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve visited local neighborhood blogs here in Chicago to read through the litany of armchair urban planners complaining about what politician or neighborhood group is responsible for fixing which square foot of what block. It’s so uplifting to see art and a little creativity being used as a tool to solve city problems.

Light Painting by Twin Cities Brightest
These are just five images of thousands created by Twin Cities Brightest, whose web site leads me to believe it’s the work of a single individual with maybe some help from friends. Using light swords, fireworks, custom light suits, and gadgets I’ve simply never heard of, TCB is making stuff so far beyond anything I’ve ever seen before. Do yourself a favor and get lost for a bit in their Flickr sets. Tutorials included.
Side note: I found this via Michael over at Yewknee a blog that’s quickly become a favorite in a blogroll exceeding about 150 sites I read each day. Check it out.
